If Israel and Pakistan have nuclear technology, on which grounds, and more importantly, HOW are you going to prevent Iran from having it?If we can find an alternative fuel source we could starve Iran and several other ME nations with ease. I'd give the freakin technology away just to do it. Sure, why don't you? I would be the first to cheer if a better fuel were invented tomorrow. Actually, I would be interested in your thoughts as to WHY this initiative has not been undertaken yet. As far as sanctions go I'd go to the extent of not letting anything in or out of the country if I had to And kill your own country's economy? That seems a bit extreme just because "You don't want...". :-) Bush does not strike me as a terribly intelligent person who is also inclined to long term planning, but even he would not do THAT. Besides, how exactly do you plan to force other countries to accept sanctions to Iran's oil and hence doubled oil prices? Invade everyone? :-)Iran should feel worried (at least their leadership should anyhow) Iran is laughing because they know full well that there will be no sanctions on their oil, which is all that counts. And they probably have a couple of aces up their sleeve - or did you think their nuclear stuff is where they say it is? I don't want ANY new countries to have nukes. What the world has now is bad enough I agree with you. But the problem here is that there is nothing we can do about it. Consider this: Say we invade every country who even looks in the direction of powerful weapons technology like nukes and biological weapons. Still, there is no way to prevent a single American scientist who would make a nuke for or smuggle a virus sample to a terrorist organization. That is all it takes - a single man who is corrupt, wants to get rich fast, or even is doing this to save his kidnapped family or something. Trying to stop further nuclear proliferation is quite impossible. What the world should be doing right now is to install serious deterrents to make their use highly undesirable. Also, do consider that nuclear weapons are peanuts when compared to possibilities of biological weapons. You may have noticed that scientists ASSEMBLED a polio virus from MAILED DNA parts last year. To make the point that it was so easy and so available. That is the real danger, not the sixty year old nuclear technology.
