[Many Americans might be mad after reading this, understandably]--"Thousands of US Marines to Lanka, Maldives relief work upset India – how long will US Marines stay in Indonesia, Lanka and Maldives?"

Hi Yiwu - Tsunami warning -

Wow, that's paranoid.

When government incompetence, lethargy, inertia, and fear of doing anything is mis-attributed to a conspiracy involving multiple nations, that's a real stretch. Normal activity with unfortuante results gets attributed to some fantastic super competent conspiracy.

It does look like the Thai meterological people had a breif window for a warning, but may have been worried about scaring tourists.

This is typical government response - See the movie 'Jaws' , one of the Ibsen plays, behavoir of various governmnets with SARS, crime, etc.

*****

People don't want to believe -

1) The earth is dangerous, and nature doesn't care.

2) Goverment is made of average people, who don't really care, and want to avoid risk.

3) Government is not your mommy, and won't look out for you.

Thanks for posting - it's useful to see that this is getting printed in the paper.

Yiwu the Mad, do you remember when sars was rampant in Beijing and Jiang Zemin's gang kept it under wraps and even now has a good doctor in prison for daring to speak?

<Some are concluding that the Governments knew of some experiments by some country, agency or entities. They were clearly told not to react because it was in a controlled environment. Or, they may have just asked to keep quiet. >

It's understandable that you are so deranged that you'd imagine that the tsunami was part of a "Western" conspiracy and military experiement.

Have you considered the possibility that this was just a training run for making a HUGE tsunami from Taiwan to head for China's crowded shores? A decent wave would get from the coast all the way to Beijing. It would take just a bit of focussing using the continental shelf to send a truly monster wave across China.

Those devil foreigner "Westerners" sure are scary.

Mqurice
