New Zealand doesn't get in the news much. That doesn't mean nothing's happening, though it usually does.

I know, that's why I asked what was happening in NZ... Am very happy to hear that the New Zealanders were not hit, although you had loss of life too.

Did you see this story? So many, many such stories, both make you proud to be a human, and sad at the same time.

As far as money donated, $4 million from NZ is a lot considering the size of the country. And it is MORE than interesting that the Middle Eastern countries aren't doing anything much, if at all, to help, even if the majority of the victims are Moslems.

As far as the USA is concerned....Don't worry, Americans always come to the rescue.... You do know, don't you, that the cost of the ships, and the military, and the helicopters, planes, etc hasn't been counted in the total to be donated.... Hopefully, there will be some accounting of that, since so many in the worlds press seem to be so concerned about who donates what, and specifically the Americans.

You also won't see the totals given by Americans and American Corporations to Charities to help in the relief work, at least as yet. I believe that will change. MILLIONS of dollars so far have been donated... Last time I saw the donations made to Amazon, for instance, for the Red Cross, the total was $10,000,000+++.

Perhaps the idiot #2 guy from the UN did a good thing to say Americans were stingy..... This time, perhaps the world will see specifically just how stingy Americans, individuals, corporations, small companies, and our Government AREN'T.

We usually don't talk about our donations and relief efforts in terms of the cost, while the rest of the world does. Maybe that will change too.
