I don't think we'd have gotten rid of Saddam nor do I think we'll see a civil war without some pressure on Iran. When the hostages were taken back in 79 I recall the main reason was we had backed the Shaw and he was now living here (in his few remaining days before he died). They were all pissed off at the US for having backed this guy who had stolen money and lived like a king in Iran. While all of that may be true I look at how they live today and wonder of they're really better off under this new Govt. Since I don't live there I can't say for sure but it sure doesn't strike me as a very god life. Yet back in 79 is was all our fault because we backed the Shaw. Funny how things repeated themselves after an overthrow with a new govt. It begs the question....were we really the great satan when we backed the shaw and if we were then why are things virtually the same 25 years later?
