Yaacov, Genetically, the Khazars are mostly Turko-Mongolians mixed with Germans--thanks to old Ghengis Khan and his clan. I believe the German genetics dominates as one can see in blondish Khazars like Sharon etc. It was oncee accepted that Yiddish was a corruption of German but now linguists studying who study the Khazar relics from archeological digs are proposing that Yiddish is German dialect that derives from a Germanic tribe that settled in the Crimean/Ukraine area (the old Khazar stomping ground) and mixed with invading Turks and Mongols to form the Khazars. More and more evidence points to this theory. So what does it all mean? We have a large percentage (70% to 90%) of modern Jews who are genetically Ashkenazim/Khazars and in no way related to the acient Hebrews. There is also considerable mixing that occured among the Sephardics when they lived in North Aftica, Spain, Portugal and Europe. Phyical Anthropologists like Drs. Kroeber, Ashley Montagu (both Jewish Anthropologists) have conlcuded that the modern Jews no longer constitute a race because of this mixing over the last two thousand yars. I studied under both these men. The hostilities between the Sephardic and Ashkenazic Jews are, for the most part, poorly understood in the "Gentile" community.
