You have to to know Tony's personality and his characters to really understand why he constantly gets into trouble. It started at the age of 18 (if not earlier) and continued throughout his adulthood. He is a smart and talented dude, but he is also bad person, a chronic liar with a crooked mind. Given a choice, he always chose to take the crooked path to take advantage of others. He just can not help it,.... if you know what I mean. God gave him a talent, bt also gave him all these bad traits. The sad part is,.... the cat can't change its stripes.

I ask myself: did he think he was above the law? Based on the small snippets I've read in the press, it appears Tony had convinced himself that the ends justified the means when it came to exposing what he considered to be scam companies. When the FBI apparently validates your approach by cooperating, and you're raking in the bucks, it's easy to see how this can be intoxicating. I'm sure he also figured that if the SEC was so understaffed that they couldn't possibly prosecute all the scams that they surely wouldn't expend precious resources on him, someone who fancied himself as a crime fighter. And you know what? I bet if 9-11 hadn't happened that Tony would still be in business today. Even had someone stumbled on his operation on their own, I would think it would have been handled quietly. - Jeff
