I will try on this one----it appears to me that the single On Balance Volume is split into a negative index and then a positive index. ( And, what is being referred to is tracking the negative volume flow as a separate indicator and then the positive volume flow as a separate indicator.)

OBV follows the same rules for adding or subtracting totals when a stock is down, unchanged or up. The figure that is obtained is the single indicator OBV. Then we look at the final daily OBV numbers for patterns of decreasing or increasing OBV-----with various guidelines/rules to guide interpretation.

From the numerical comes the graphs that highlight visually the
movement of the stock and observe rising and falling fields.
