Hi TH, Re: Biopure's trade volume.

Yes, BPUR's trade volume has been huge in recent days. Yesterday they traded 60MM shares during regular hours and an additional 9.8MM after hours. This AM there was further trading, but the volume was much less when I looked.

BPUR came out with a major stock dilution in Dec and it seemed to be absorbed well. At the same time, a HUGE short position formed. The Dec. short selling indicated something in excess of 200% increase in shares short.

It would seem, since there's no news on the wire, that possibly the big volume has something to do with the Short side covering. I think they looked to take profits before the end of '04 which pushed up the price a bit. That may have cascaded into yesterday's trading.

Just a guess.

Best regards, Tom

Looking at the Yahoo boards yesterday, it seemed like the price increase was purely speculative, day-trader sort of stuff. Then today BPUR announced another dilutive share sale, although at better price than the previous one. And the market price of the stock dropped back down. A speculative bubble yesterday, it appears.
