FWIW, I know many of those mentioned in that article.

I have known Maracek for over 40 years. He is a real warrior. He also has the integrity and honor standards of a career SF Officer. I had a beer with George 3-4 years ago and he swore he is innocent. I believe him.

I have known Robin Moore for 30 years or more and last saw him past June. He is old and strokes have really slowed him down. The guys on teams in Afghan when Robin was there say he did not tell the real story in his latest book. They are pissed at him. For that reason I set his book aside and have not bothered to read it. Robin is the only civilian ever allowed to attend SF training and he completed the course. As I recall it was shortly after me in 1962...but I might have that date a bit off. Completing the course has provided Robin extraordinary access to teams over the years. I doubt that will change. But he may not see as much openness from team members in the future.

Wayne Lawley is a close friend. I saw Wayne last summer and spoke with him a month or two ago.

Billy Waugh is the best of the best. I saw Billy last June too. His book, Hunting the Jackal, is next on my pile to read.

I never met Idema...but have read notes from men who served with him. He was universally disliked and considered a dud...He was kicked out of SF.
