I really try not to see any bad movies. These fall into so many categories it is hard to avoid them all, but of course loving a lush and stunning French art movie with the young Gerard Depardieu in it (who I found sexy in a rough way) and then hoping that a cheezy American remake would pass muster is pure folly, isn't it?

Of course I will attend bad Hugh Grant movies, but I even got burned doing this once. He was in SUCH a stupid movie, about some villagers climbing up a hill or something--do you remember it?

Sommersby was shot in Lexington, my home town, and was quite the event. They covered the main street with sand, and took down signs, and some locals got to be in it. A couple of actor friends of mine drank beer in a local pub with Gere and said he was very nice and funny.

So when I saw it all I did was look for anyone I knew, and shout things like, "There's Bierer's Pharmacy!" and "What did they do with all that sand!" Have no memory of the movie itself.
Sounds like it might be just as well.
