EricL, it's nice to see some telecom companies pricing things sensibly [WiFi]. If only Globalstar had done that....woe is me...

BTW, it's Woosh, not Whoosh woosh.com

I bought it as soon as it was available. Daughter Melissa now has my modem [and is in fact using it right now via MSN Messenger to cousin Julian, who is using dial-up], while I rant on ADSL [I have a big word output so need BANDWIDTH].

What do you think of skype.com and what impact will it have? Comindico comindico.com.au went bust after spending $100s of millions to build a voip system. Skype spent nothing on hardware and has 48 million downloads and 1,013,304 users online right now. Olde style Comindico voip seems a waste of hardware [even though it was state of the art].

Hmmm, RoamAD, WiFi, ADSL, Woosh, IS-95, 1xRTT, QUALCOMM, Globalstar - I've bought it all.

PS: If we count faulty ideas, the bleeding EDGE has indeed made it out of vapour-ware stage and a few other comments Dr J has made weren't perfect. But of everyone, his statements have turned out to be most generally correct and bankable. He didn't emphatically say EDGE wouldn't exist, just that he'd be surprised [wasn't that it] and he didn't think it made sense, which it still might not. Look at the hagfish world's comments if you want a litany of lunacy. You know the score. From L M Ericsson inventing CDMA in the 1890s to Bill Frezza's rantings in the 1990s and "It's coming any time now and gee it's going to whiz-bang" GSM Guild's claims about VW-40 [resulting in $100 billion bids for 2GHz in Europe].

Eric L., re "--to the everlasting shame of the Jacobs' family, Perry LaForge, and those of us that hold QCOM shares--"

It appears the shame has become too much for you. To benefit your own health, you probably should sell your QCOM shares.

Ron

P.S. Dr. Irwin Jacobs is "obstreperous"? LOL!
