This is why Ion says I am a liberal in a conservative coat and tie: I agree with everything you said. Same serious concerns, same hopes, same nightmares. The only thing I have never felt as strongly about were his comments about the woman and the death penalty or looking under his desk for WMDs. Inappropriate as hell, but I think he has that kind of sense of humor. I don't really think he was as insensitive as it appeared. He just thought of something he thought was funny and without thinking further, said it. Sort of the
Roseanne National Anthem debacle. I realize this is not a great thing in a president. I just don't think it's really as telling as some do.

While I try hard to stay very balanced and fair (eww-I sound like a news network), I can sure understand the desire to use a cattle prod. I suppose it depends on what results you want. I don't think extreme statements do much to change anyone, because the Believers dig in and the moderates get nervous, but if you just want to vent, then great. I think intuition is only fun for light discussion, but not really good for suasive dialogue. I work from intuition and try hard to realize when I switch from logic to it. In fact, Mrs Cos and I were just talking about this: how SI has really made us aware of how often people do this and don't realize it, believing they are still in the fact range when emotions have taken over.

You, I think, seem to be saying that all sorts of ideas will grab you and you like to play with them. So maybe I just took the whole Levy article presentation too seriously.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed reading about LEvy himself so thank you for that diversion! His personal story was far more fascinating than his writing about Bush. Very colorful past!
His beliefs are at least pacific. He may be as nuts as he says Bush is, but Bush is in a far more dangerous position for all of us.
I, too, seriously hope you are wrong.
