C2, Re: 802.11n and your comments - “Q owning future versions of WiFi. I love it.
This could be huge.”

I recall Dr. Paul Jacobs discussing the Q’s role in “future” technologies I believe during the Spring Analyst meeting, emphasizing their extensive involvement. It’s good to see their dedication via significant R&D expenditures toward securing Q’s prominent place in future wireless technologies.
It’s also good to see the analyst community recognizing and reporting such. This is the snip from the recent Harris Nesbitt Report on 802.11n

802.11n

The IEEE 802.11n-working group is pursuing a high-throughput (at least 100 megabits per
second) amendment to the 802.11 standard for local area networking. Two primary camps are
proposing multiple input/multiple output (MIMO) transmission schemes for the 802.11nworking
group. Three complete proposals as well as a number of partial proposals have been
submitted to this working group. Qualcomm has a Boston-based engineering team that has been
developing MIMO technology that appears to be far-reaching in its scope and potential
application to the extent that any of the MIMO approaches adopted under 802.11n would be
likely to be covered by Qualcomm’s MIMO inventions.
Also, as part of this working group,
Qualcomm is putting an OFDMA proposal together with prototype equipment that the company
indicates is in conformance with the proposed specifications.

It appears that Q’s R&D expenditures (a small fraction of NOK’s $5 billion per year) are contributing more than just fancy face plates (gg).

Thanks for the .11n research.

You almost know enough to verge on dangerousness! ;^>

Good weekend y'all!
