Only after an 'Iraqi' government stands up (albeit it be a Shia-dominated one) can we begin to extricate ourselves from the mess... and can the Iraqi civil war that will settle political questions actually begin to get underway (without the US being the default target). Possible result: a strong Shia State in about half the country, loosely affiliated with a proto-Kurdish nation... and Sunni insurgents scrambling to join with their Sunni co-religionists in Saudi Arabia / Syria / Jordan.
