I don't disagree at all that a Shia-dominated democracy in the majority of Iraq will protect the rights and lives of the Shiites where they have never been protected before. (That begs the question though of how closely they will ultimately link their interests to the Shiites in Iran....) The Sunni are unlikely to accept their fall from power and 'go quietly into that good night'... they will fight. I believe one of our major national interests in the future will be to see that military support & financing for them does not come from Saudi Arabia / Syria, etc. An internationally agreed partition might be required in the future.
