Good article. I used to camp in the Catskills and drink the lake water after a little boiling.. Back in the fifties it was pristine..

About my hybrid adventures...

Well I have looked into the Prius and the Honda hybrids...

What conclusion did I reach ? Well there is price gouging on both. Dealers are not responsible to the parent company for regulating prices so they are asking extremely high prices as there are waiting lists...

I checked into the Lexus as it will come out with a hybrid too but it will average 27 mpg...That is an overall mileage figure. It will cost about ten thousand more than its non hybrid model..

The Ford company is coming out with a version of their Escape in hybrid form but I have not ascertained price nor mileage as yet.

The conclusion by two care buffs who write for local paper...

The cost of the Prius for example $ 30.000 and a WAITING LIST.... This is way over priced but the demand allows the pricing.

Buy a Civic . It gets about 30 mpg... and costs about half..
Take the money and pay for your gas over the years it will balance out.

With the saving form pickets at the dealerships to inform the public how much gouging they do and how UnAmerican they are and how much and enemy of the environment.
