Dismantle it and the consequences would be real ugly. US is definitely not going to be (nor will able to be) the arbiter in world disputes unless it has its own interests tied. I can easily predict that whole world will be at the losing end but US will be more so. You can quibble at it's inefficiencies, mismanagement, inequities (favoring US usually) but not at it's existence.

Nope. We are not going to stop pushing folks around, so we need a place where the world's losers can blow off steam and "stick it to us" verbally instead of just rising up and killing us indiscriminately.
