First of all...he's not an idiot. Everyone has opinions and just because we don't agree doesn't mean he's an idiot.

Second (There were many ways to bring peace to the middle east.)

I don't know what those were and apparently nobody has since Kissenger. We have talked, negotiated and gifted until we turned blue in the face - nothing has worked. Clinton had a GREAT plan with the Palestinians and Arafat & his hate filled pride walked away in favor of terror. Thats tough when you're dealing with a guy like that. It was almost as if he didn't want to give up the power of terror.

<<The pressure is not bombs...it's incentives to join a peaceful union of nations>>

We've used that pressure on Iran and N. Korea. In Iran's case some of the pressure is even from within as it seems the younger generation would like ties with the west. It hasn't worked - yet. We tried pressure with Iraq only to have some of the very countries involved (and some of out own businessmen I'm sure)cheat the system to ease that pressure Saddam felt. Keeping a tight lid on things and monitoring is not all that easy.

We don't know the outcome yet and we may not for 5-10 years. For this reason I think we have to be careful not to determine it a failure. Time has a way of working things out. 5 years ago we heard several democrats criticize Bush 1 for not going all the way. Now we've gone all the way and its not right either. The Intel on WMD's was wrong and thus if you're a democrat or don't like Bush or the policy - he lied. Yet when Reno went into Waco she says she had bad intel as well. Now its a smaller scale but nobody said she lied. Many said she made a mistake and thats fine. But the Lie aspect of this situation bothers me. You didn't say it in your post but anyone who doesn't support Bush or the war simply says - he lied. That doesn't work for me.
