The government getting into the retirement business was a serious mistake from the beginning for many reasons. I'm fairly old school and believe it is the responsibility of children to care for their parents when they become elderly if they need it. Government programs sabotage people's feelings of personal responsibility for themselves and their family. Social security is also a Ponzi scheme.
