How many christians do you think have been donating to the Red Crescent? Do they think that it is equivalent, even though the two organizations are equivalent as you say? How many Christians will donate to the Red Trident?

If you are saying people probably feel comfortable giving to charities of their own religion than others, that is probably true (there is no country where both Red Cross and Crescent exist so I cannot literally answer the question). But I do not think Red Cross is perceived as religious is most countries except in exclusivist Islamic ones where Red Crescent name is there to placate them. My impression is that India is a multi-religious society where Red Cross would be perceived as non-religious. Speculation: If there is a need (e.g. India gets intolerant and suspicious like the exclusivist Islamic countries), probably someone will create a Red Trident (or whatever) organization to be part of the current IFRC federation of charities umbrella organization.
