I understand that some people accept an alternate reality that I do not, namely that Iraq was enough of a *potential* threat to justify a costly and dangerous war. I am even able to believe that some of them may believe this in absolute earnest (although I do not happen to believe that Bush believed that). And I do not think that people who believed in this war, and who still believe in it, hate America- despite the fact that I see obvious proof that the cause they have championed has, and will continue, to injure the country. What I cannot forgive, though, is people who insist on demonizing ME for what I believe, when I believe what I believe because I think it is best for the country. It's a very ungenerous spirit that makes the loyal opposition into some sort of anti-American charicature. There is much historical precedent for such ugliness, but that hardly makes it more palatable.
