I used to live on an island outside of Seattle . . . very beautiful place. I also lived in San Francisco, an exciting place to be young but a hard place to sustain life and build wealth, especially with small children.

I haven't lived in San Francisco since Willie Brown bit the mayoral dust, so I don't know if it is much cleaner. When in doubt, eat the famous sourdough bread! Even at the airport, it is a clean and delicious and fresh product.

I can say definitively that the new mayor, Gavin Newsom, is very much easier on the eyes than Willie Brown. Of course, he is famous for marrying thousands of gay couples, and perhaps for costing Kerry the presidential election because of the (debatable) bad timing of doing that. But still very cute . . .
