Because we charged in with false premises and bogus assumptions.> The sad point here is that we might well have been able to win had their been an honest discussion of the core issues concerning Iraq before the invasion. Dissent within the Administration was met with a scorched earth policy -- it was made clear that you are "with us or you are with the terrorists". Our politicians failed us and they failed us badly. Our President failed us.
