If I am allowed to own a gun, and keep it in my possession, I have the right to use it in any lawful manner.

Yes, that's just what I said in the post to which you just responded.

Without the second amendment, citizens would not have the right to own a gun for any purpose.

You are mistaken. Citizens would be able to buy guns just as they are able to buy TV sets and dutch ovens and bubble bath.

I have no problem, but think that you are doing a bit of nit picking on the subject.

I don't know why you insist on that particular fiction but I have no problem, either, with your holding it or expressing i. Ore even with your calling it into question "nitpicking." I just find it curious that you would be so anxious to protect an erroneous belief when it's not being true costs you nothing. And I find it curious that you do not offer a counter my arguments, only repeat your belief.

Nuff said.

Repeating your belief like a mantra may be 'nuff for you but I don't find it compelling. Perhaps if you could tell me how owning a gun is different from owning a teddy bear given that there is no constitutional protection for teddy-bear ownership.

Or perhaps you advocate an amendment to the constitution to assure our right to own teddy bears... <g>
