Give me an example of a country which has not benefited from trade with a large more developed one.

I think the workings of the IMF in Africa is a good example.

Clearly, it is not logical for the World Bank to undertake such a huge and coercive effort to reduce the size of the future labor force in Tanzania.

So why does the Bank do it?

Yes, I am a believer in free trade too, and Africa has it's own problems on this issue..

Fact is though, for someone in either the USA or the UK to say thier country is the beacon for a "free market economy" sounds a tad hollow to me.
