..Why lost? Because we blew the opportunity to control the terrain with insufficient troops and terrible intelligence; because all the institutions required to build democracy in Iraq have already been infiltrated by insurgents; because at key moments - they mention the fall of 2003 or spring of 2004 - we simply failed to crush the insurgency when we might have had a chance of success. Short version: we had a brief window of opportunity to turn our armed intervention into democratic liberation and we blew it. >>>>

They mean during the time when the stinking liberal press was all over the back of GWB and the Administration for losing , in three years of wars, nearly 1/30 the number of troops as were lost invading one little Pacific Island ? Counting casualties day after day 600,700,800 while ignoring the 40,000 deaths per year on our highways?.

When Congress was debating whether to provide money for fighting in Iraq?. With Rumsfeld under fire at all times.

With Kerry calling it the wrong war at the wrong time. While the Press was spending much of its time wishing GB would be impeached for finding no WMD's?

Did anyone think the Republicans could expedite the fighting and the causualty count under those circumstances and still win the Election?

Its the wrong press, at the wrong time.

And they come to the brilliant conclusion as to what the US should do......
<<<They recommend withdrawing U.S. forces to the periphery of Iraq and letting the inevitable civil war take place in the center.>>>

What in He$$ do they think the US has been trying to do, saying it would do, other than to back off and encourage the Iraqis to do their own fighting.?

Does he guarantee that civil war.? Will the rebels buy tanks and aircraft and attack the Kurds?
