This guy was a hero to these dudes during the election. He is hysterican now but what was he then when he surrounded himself with Brettenweiser and the 9/11 families? Beats me. However, I tried not to filter what Clarke says through an ideological prism despite the fact that he definitely had a political ax to grind [and a book to sell] during the election. And I do recall a lot of things I took issue with him previously. Nonetheless, the guy is a bona fide expert, and I read what he said as objectively as I could given the state of my ignorance and my acknowledged predisposition against him. Despite all this, I thought he made a lot of good points, particularly in the manner in which he supports his prognostications with the footnotes, which are truly chock-full of hard facts. I suggest you buy a copy of the magazine. Unlike most wonky stuff, the reading is fun. He has said that he adopted the style he used to get people's attention. A piece in a scholarly journal would have passed unnoticed. I doubt this one will.
