Why would criminals give up there guns? They already break the laws.

Chicago suburb that outlawed handguns, a house was broken into, keys and a vehicle were stolen. The home owner bought a handgun off the streets, takes a month to get a Firearm Owner's ID and then a week wait to buy a gun. The robber came back a week later with a gun while the guy and his wife and kids were going to bed. The owner shot him. Charges were filed against the home owner.

Then the Illinois Legislature wrote a law that local and state laws didn't matter if a gun was used to save lives. Nice move by the downstaters.
