You have quite a kooky understanding of history and economics. We've been growing towards a service economy for decades; it was long foretold.

Nobody's going to pay for products produced by lavishly paid, low-skilled U.S. union workers when they can pay a fraction of that for a similar product produced in Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, China, or Thailand.

Our competitive advantage is (was) in an educated and skilled workforce that can produce goods and services not so easily mass produced or provided elsewhere. With our educational system and culture going to hell, it's getting harder to stay on the cutting edge.

So long as there are dipsh*ts who fight that unrelenting natural force in a vain effort to preserve dead-end jobs here, we will not achieve our potential.
