Hello Maurice, I thinking you are stretching, because you OUGHT to know that Chinese in Taiwan taking up residency, work and education on the Mainland, and absconding with his Taiwan based capital to Shanghai is of a fundamentally different nature than a Kiwi meandering over to Australia for a weekend. And if you DO NOT KNOW that, let me expand on those thoughts ...

What you say about fratricide make sense, but, guess what, it is the situation we have, and one party then another across the Taiwan Strait makes it progressively worse, and so it goes. As far trying to trace the original sin, it is pointless, and the way brian wants to go about it, not helpful; Yiwu, as far as I can make out, appears to react in her passionate way as a result. Brian cannot stomach the mainlanders making progress, it appears, which is very small in attitude ... I mean, to defend, by proxy, Japan's annexation and colonization of a population fundamentally his kin, too much, shameful too.

Back to what most likely will be, re-unification of Taiwan by Mainland, is simply happening, and the strategies adopted by each side can be clearly discerned, we can see that one side is astute, powerful, unified, purposeful, and another splintered, hesitant, bleeding people and cash, becoming progressively irrelevant, and getting relatively weaker.

Putting it all into the metaphysical excel spreadsheet and projecting forward, unless something changes drastically, which in any case I feel would be the Mainland surprises on the upside, the trend is clear, and destination will not be a surprise. Thus, my flippant one word comment, "inevitable".

Clear?

As to the Taiwan authorities remodeling 3G Dam, this would in fact simplify the end to the civil war greatly (the Mainlanders did say reunification will be at all cost, and so 3G Dam is counted in, a cost), and yes, it is a Civil War, that has gone on for a while. Just one of those happenings, not exactly novel.

You see, nothing but facts, and logical projections, after concatenation with what else is happening all around, from money world to wars in the sandy regions. It is a process called “understanding”.

Your arguments are stretch, twisted, all to make a point that cannot likely be, and so not altogether useful in the schema of BBR, at least not in the same sense, imo. And so we discuss, so that folks can make up their own evaluations.

Chugs, Jay

There's no "order of battle" between Oz and NZ. I wonder if you wonder why China would want to have such a war resulting in many dead, more than likely, not to mention lots of destruction.

Because they are control freaks. But the Chinese are not the only ones that suffer from that. Almost anyone that seeks power, seeks to control others.

Republican candidates for office run against more government. But once they get into office, they create a bigger government. They intervene in other peoples problems.

If the Chinese let things run its course, Jay will be right. China will have enough influence over Taiwan to be able to have control over Taiwan. That is inevitable. And, that is what I believe will happen.

Possibly including renovation of the Three Gorges Dam according to rumour, which would be a BIG problem.

But, there are always trouble makers proposing big trouble. Ergo, push comes to shove - the stupid cycle seem endless.

I don't see your type of thinking as part of any solution. It is just a part of the stupid cycle.
