I have been in the vicinity of terrorist bombings (closer than 100 yards) on more than one occasion, and I passed through Newark airport going from Chile to Hawaii on Sept. 10, with a flight booked from Hawaii to Taiwan on Sept. 11. I am more than aware that the world is a violent place and that death tragically visits the young and the innocent around the world every day. I am not a stranger to any of that. I have also seen what it is like when "security" is provided primarily by use of force -- and if that is the kind of place you want as your home, you can have it. What you seem so unable to see is that killing only gets you so far, and then it starts to work against you. You want the world to be a better place, get to the root of it. If you merely want a lifetime pass to live in some kind of military Disneyworld where all the rides have armed guards and people are arrested and killed "just in case", well you can have it.
