At least in the US the systems rations health care by some rational means. The Canadian system rationing works by eliminating those who cannot wait. Perhaps death is better than Canadian Health Care.

In the US, those who can afford health care are allowed to seek it. How many heads of state have received their health care in the US after being referred by their own inadequate doctors?

Are you familiar with the golden rule? The US system practices both forms of it. But the rationing in the US system more closely resembles the capitalist form of the golden rule. "He who has the GOLD rules."

What we need is not a flatter health care system, but a more stratified one. We need more affordable health insurance for the common people. Those who can afford better can receive more expensive treatments. It may not seem Christian* at first glance. But is allowing people to ie because trial lawyers want to sue doctors into oblivion Christian*?

Forcing the poor into emergency rooms because they cannot afford regular health care in not very charitable either. People deserve the best health care that they can afford.

*If you prefer you can substitute your favorite charitable word or phrase in place of the word Christian.
