Malcolm, What is going to happen when these subs that use the Northwest Passage unfettered call it 'international waters'. Then, there will be a buffer zone along thse waters, and an 'I found it first' will apply to the natural resource riches found. The Canadian gov't is not spending a dime to actively patrol and police those sovereign lands, and Canada will lose them if it is not careful. Maybe the US wants them, then Canada claims sovereignty, then Russia gets involved. (Of course, the odds that the sighted subs are both Russia and US and are mapping the seabed, maybe looking for resources, is there) It is denial to think Canada has no enemies. If Canada has no enemies why don't these subs email Ottawa before sailing? Who don't they fess up when Ottawa publishes the sightings. If you ask them what they think if Canada says nothing, they will say Canada has no enemies. So Canada says nothing and where does that lead? Or, Canada says something. Either way, Canada has enemies. D
