Current warnings:

ADVANCE WARNING OF SEVERE WEATHER

Here is an ADVANCED WARNING of Severe Gales affecting Northern Scotland, Eastern Scotland, South West Scotland, Northern Ireland, North West England, North East England, The Midlands and Wales.
Issued by the Met Office at 09:19 on Monday, 10 January 2005.
This is the first warning of disruption due to Severe Gales.
The Met Office is forecasting a further spell of wet and very windy weather as a very deep depression moves northeastwards past Northern Ireland and northwest Scotland during Tuesday afternoon and evening, reaching the Norwegian Sea on Wednesday. Widespread gales are expected over the UK, but the strongest winds with damaging gusts of 70-90mph will reach northern and western parts of Northern Ireland on Tuesday, spreading across western and northern Scotland overnight before decreasing later on Wednesday. Gusts of 80-100mph are possible for a time in exposed parts with a risk of widespread damage to trees and buildings, disruption to electricity supplies and extremely dangerous conditions for drivers, particularly high- sided lorries.
The strong winds will be accompanied by persistent rain on Tuesday giving a further 40-80mm on hills and mountains in western Scotland, and 15-30mm in other exposed western parts of Britain, which could renew flooding problems in those areas recently affected. Very squally and increasingly wintry showers will follow into Scotland.
For enquiries regarding this warning - please contact your regional Met Office.
Transmitted by the Met Office at 09:19 on Monday 10 January

This is the first warning of disruption due to Severe Gales. It will be updated at around 0900 tomorrow, Tuesday 11 January unless superseded by Flash messages.

Pearly - to what extent will this affect Blair?
How independent is the BOE from politics?
Would a rate cut be favorable for Blair and would that mke it more likely or not?
