"The actions of the Bush administration are minimal compared with FDR."

Perhaps....

They are certainly 'minimal' when compared to the extra-constitutional actions of Lincoln during his war... maybe even 'minimal' when compared to several other examples of Presidential over-reach, such as Nixon's wage-price freeze, the nationalization of the steel industry (was that Eisenhower, or Truman???), etc.

Still... ANYTIME an elected Constitutional official asserts the right to powers above-and-beyond what the Constitution grants, particular when they assert 'powers' they claim are exempt from any review, then I get especially concerned.

For, the balancing of governmental powers against one another, and the explicit enumeration of what those powers are and are not by our Constitution... are the foundation and the blueprints for our entire nation, and I believe the wellspring for our success.

Any tampering with that successful and critical formula needs the most stringent of review.
