How would such a military move play out on the ground in your opinion and what would be the results? Does the syrian regime survive and if not what comes in its place? Possible would extend the chaos further as well as letting hizbolah loose? Where would iran be in all of this. They are allies of the syrians but sunni vs shia thing exists and the anti election actions hurt sistani and the shiaa in iraq. Now that the WB and Gaza are pacified, do they israelis take the opportunity to take out Hizbollah assuming they can do that easily? What about lebanon???? Thoughts???

Hi carranza2; Re: "Cool, very cool, way to deal with Syria. The Boy Dictator is sweating his butt off, particularly as he probably canot fully control what the former Iraqi Baathists he has given sanctuary do to promote the insurgency. His ass is therefore in a grinder. His first real test."

Uh, let me guess how the military response to Syria would go. The US drops bombs on safe houses that turn out to be wedding parties. Of course that doesn't work. Then the US bombs various places in Damascus with the intention of killing the dictator. Of course he's not staying at the Chinese embassy, so he's perfectly alright. Of course an actual invasion of Syria is impossible because there are no US troops to spare for it and our only allies willing to egg us on are dinky countries that can't supply anything like the well over 130,000 soldiers that it would require. (Note that Syria has a population around 3/4 as large as that of Iraq.)

And then where are we? From there, no matter what we do to Syria, they will send as many troops and supplies as possible to attack us in South Vietnam (ooooops, I meant Iraq), and they will wear us out just like they wore the Israelis out of Lebanon.
