the slightly ITM calls don't seem like a bad alternative. the 16 i received for the FEB 190 strike (when the stock was at 196) gives breakeven at 206, and one would need to gain 16 points in a month on the short to do better on the downside. but as i understand it, the people that make a lot on naked calls take advantage of the leverage one can get (compared to shorts). i couldn't see doing that, especially on a rocket like Google.

btw, doesn't GOOG seem to have quite a tight range today?
