No, not the world, but Intel's future, including future profitability DOES indeed revolve around AMD and AMD's performance.

The biggest threat to Intel is that AMD will be taken seriously by an ever larger segment of the market- and it's usually a heard thing- once the initial large segment comes, the rest easily follow.
