Keith: doug said you spoke only of CPU's and that I was a liar to say you spoke of flash.

One beneficial side effect of the crash is that it has shut him up - at least for a few hours. He's probably gone back to train-spotting.

I wonder if there is a lesson to be learned for AMD management here, as far as sneaking in these late updates / warnings (and it is a pattern now). Today showed that sneaking it in is not at all going to soften the blow.

I think lesson AMD will earn is to be extra conservative in the guidance for next Q, (starting in next week CC) and we will probably be hit again with a second leg of this decline as a result of the conservative guidance.

Keith: Your concerns were astute, and quite well founded. I made the mistake of taking "flat to up" at face value, and didn't spot the subsequent subtle signs that it was unraveling. Your point on increased conservatism in guidance and its likely impact on stock price is also probably correct.

Keith, thanks, stupidly enough I didn't listen well enough.

How will flash do in Q1. Worse than in Q4? If so how much worse?

Regards,

Rink

<<All this didn´t keep me from selling though, and I´m just as dissapointed as everyone else that they don´t seem to have any control, or foresight at all about a business where they prided themselves with being No.1 for a short period of time.>>

Keith, I'm just curious about why you're still holding the stock. It is, IMO, quite unsettling that rev are to be up slightly yet the operating line takes a "significant" hit. How exactly is this possible? one would think that any weakness in flash revs would be more than offset by increase in CPU rev and the higher margins there would result in aggregate earnings increasing over last Q. Could flash revenues be so low that they fell short (like by a country mile) of fixed costs to run the operation. Is it possible that they are writing down flash inventory causing another 1 time hit? Impact of the conversion hurting the operating line? TIA for your thoughts.
