Well, Hrumph.

I was helping someone with an iRiver thingy.

I didn't have much problem transferring MP3s from iTunes - drag & drop. iTunes store purchases had to of course be translated to MP3 before it will work on iRiver. Using the iRiver was like using a PC - grit your teeth and "why even bother with a user interface? Just give me a few controls thats it"

Me thinks someone at Apple played with the iRiver offering and thought the same thing - and said why not dump the UI and play songs at random (or however that flash iPod works)
