I understand, but that's still an imposition of the gov't on those who don't want to participate. So why should that be any different than the gov't imposing religious views on everyone?

It's a system that cannot work unless everyone participates.


At its inception "everyone" didn't participate. The only reason "everyone" participates today is that when SS ran out of money previously (in '81-'83) they had to force those who had previously been exempted to enter the program.

It is amazing to me the level of ignorance amongst liberals on this subject. Were it not such an important discussion to the nation, one might even think they were politically motivated.

But surely, no liberal would put politics ahead of the future of the nation.
