Who is Jerry Kilgore? By: jbehan · Redstate Blog As you probably know by now, Virginia is one of two states that will be holding statewide elections in 2005. In the highly-anticipated gubernatorial race, the field is pretty much set: Republican Attorney General Jerry Kilgore will be facing off against Democratic Lieutenant Governor Tim Kaine. A lot of Republican hopes have been placed squarely behind Kilgore as he attempts to regain Virginia's Executive Mansion from the Democrats. Four years ago, Mark Warner ran on the Democrat ticket but campaigned like a Republican, especially in the rural areas of Virginia, and he came away victorious. Republicans are still stinging from that loss, and the base is itching to return the favor. Over the next few months, observers from across the country will be watching the race for Governor in Virginia. Republicans need a victory in this race to keep up momentum heading into the 2006 mid-terms.
