Yes it is good that military spending has gone down, and even yet we spend just a little less than the rest of the world combined on military. My basic point about that is what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and I'm glad you essentially agree.

My other basic point is that IMO when republicans talk about reform they are actually talking about cutting funding for. The talk about reform is just a subterfuge to make it appear acceptable to those whom it would otherwise be unacceptable. Grover Norquist doesn't distinguish between working programs and non working programs when he says he wants to shrink the federal budget to the size he could drown in the bathtub. He's just as happy to shrink the working programs (ot drown them if he can get away with it).
