When the working poor, without health insurance go to an emergency room, they get charged "retail". Which is usually ~5X what an insurance company pays.

There is probably a solution somewhere, but it's not the status quo.

Actually, it isn't, but those who are receiving free health care from the public sure act like society owes them that and more.


I see nothing wrong with people expecting free health care. It should be a given in a nation as rich as this one. The fact that it isn't costs this nation an undetermined amount of money.
