So where is the impropriety?

channel stuffing ,, sometimes its sales promotions,, highest sales by representative or % of purchases by distributor gets you all expense paid trip to X. or it gets you bonus dollars.

I can still remember customers who had three and four years of product stuff in outside warehouses.. Sales and credit people would agree on large order with condition sales person would sell out product. Never happen. then to compound matters sales person gets to area manager or district manager and next person comes in to sell and finds inventory to clean up that had not been sold in last year or two. Poor guy gets probation for not meeting his goals and the people who screwed up the system were rewarded.

Another way to stuff the channel was to get one customer to buy huge order with the promise of sales person to distribute the inventory by selling it off to other customers rather than place orders directly with the company.

One rep. i knew off was highest sales rep one year , got all the bonus dollars, free all expense paid trips.. next year he was on probation for not meeting objectives. he could care less , it was his game and he played it well. worked one year and took the next year off.

channel stuffing imo is terrible and people in it should be terminated.
