Thousands of searchers are often unable to find a missing person in the US during months of looking, while the missing is still on the surface and within miles of their disappearance. We can, or at least I can, blame the huge costs to our taxpayers of sending over a thousand people to Iraq to carry out that search on Saddam, on the UN, and on the Press. Blame the Press for hounding the Administration and the public about the 'missing' WMD's and for making it a political issue. It was a close election, and if not for Rathergate it could have gone the other way. The cost of the search was a price the Administration was forced to pay in order to counter accusations. Even if it was unsuccessful. Blame Saddam, for never having followed UN Resolutions and showing the UN what he had done with the tons of WMD's he had at one time. He was supposed to destroy them under UN supervision. Blame the UN, for contending that searching only areas permitted by Saddam could determine the whereabouts or size of his WMD operations. And for not leaving men on the sites where they were made or stored,and for leaving Iraq for a couple of years. Sig
