In Industry or Not in Industry

John,

<< You do work in the industry don't you? >>

No I do not.

I was drafted into the industry in September 1994 just before the start of the FCC PCS auctions when my company formally created a US focused wireless data startup (which already had one UK customer) that successfully lives on here in the States today after a spin-off that I spun with, but is not associated with my current employer which is not a wireless player.

I was drafted out of the industry exactly 4 years later, to create another non-wireless startup focused on the enterprise and exited the industry entirely a few months later on 12/31/1998.

During my wireless tenure I looked (lurked) over the shoulders of participants on the various wireless boards here on SI that kicked off in early 1996. Even though I was already an SI member by late 1997, I never posted to wireless boards here until I had exited the industry.

Today my interest in mobile wireless telephony is as an investor. The sector has treated me quite kindly and continues to do so.
