"Another Mayan sacrifice ritual was called “Arrow Sacrifice”. The victim was stripped and painted blue. A pointed cap was placed on his head. People armed with bows and arrows danced around the victim. As they danced, they put the victim on a stake. The priest then wounded the victim in parts of shame. This blood was used to anoint the faces of the idols. Then, the dancers would start dancing more rapidly and began to shoot arrows at the victim’s heart, which had been marked with a white X before the ritual started."
