I'd rather they just do away with the wash sale rule. Make taxes as simple as possible. If your net profit is X pay taxes on X.

What if I own 400 shares of a stock and I sell calls in the shares. If I later buy back the share for a loss am I not allowed to declare the loss if I sell new covered calls within 30 days?
