Doug, elmer posts as he does for attention -- at least I hope so. The alternative explanation is he lacks any grasp of business and strategy. In either case, he is not worth interacting with. I recommend putting him on ignore for a week and seeing how much your experience on this board improves. If you decide his antics were entertaining, you can always turn off the ignore feature.

Really, just try it for a week and see.

t's just bizarre that Elmer continues to resist the notion that Intel is capable of strategic bus...

What's bizarre about it? Sometimes people take up various positions that may "look" non-intuitive but there may be various reasons behind that.

I don't know or care to know about Elmer's positions, but in the general case folks could take up counter positions because:

1. They get a pleasure out of it because it needles others (you come to mind HeHe :).

2. Their position is really in line with the logical argument, but their could be a "sarcastic" or "to make a point" position.

3. Their positon could be certainly perceived as logical if the larger context (to these folks) were known to the general public.

4. That's what they are paid to do.

5. That's what they are brain washed to do.

6. Taking the widely perceived logical position is against their self interest and they know it.

7. They are stupid. (though I doubt this in Elmer's case :)

8. (Edit): I_Banker posted a good one: They want attention or want to stand out.
